Centennial Volunteers: Whistler Woods

Join Centennial Volunteers for some hiking, planning,  and invasive removal. We will learn to identify trees by species. Whistler Woods contains oaks up to 400 years old, but thick brush prevents their acorns from sprouting. We'll develop plans to rescue them and restore the preserve's biodiversity. Free lunch.

No skills necessary, but please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Join in, learn some ecology, and lend a hand. RSVP at www.fpdcc.com/CV.

Centennial Volunteers: Kickapoo Woods and Prairie

Join us for some exploration and visioning at Kickapoo Woods. The 50-acre Kickapoo prairie is recovering after suffering years of neglect and overgrowth by native species. Come see areas that have been restored and those still needing help. We'll also look at the Little Calumet River, where a boathouse may be built, and discuss ways to fight erosion. Cider and donuts provided.
