Highlights from 2009

The fourth annual Big Fish Ball on June 24, 2009, at the Merchandise Mart’s Riverside Drive was a spectacular success!

SB%20%26%20Amy%20--%20BFB09.gifThe summer evening festivities included stylish outdoor dining, live Chicago River animals, and much more. A rousing performance by ALYO Children’s Dance Theatre and after-party boat cruise were among the highlights. Our backdrop was the spectacular city skyline and Wolf Point, where the North Branch, Main Stem, and South Branch of the Chicago River converge.

Some of Chicago’s most prominent and diverse leaders in the civic and corporate communities were among the 350 guests who attended the event, including presenting sponsor Aon and 27 additional sponsors.

Our guests, including colleagues and clients, commented on the fantastic location in front of the Merchandise Mart overlooking the river and the Loop. As Chris Kennedy stated in his remarks, the river is an asset in the same league as the lakefront. Thanks to the Big Fish Ball, the list of the Chicago River’s many friends is growing. We are glad to be counted among them.”

Despite the challenging economy, Friends of the Chicago River raised even more money this year than in 2008. It was a terrific party, too! Very special thanks to our Big Fish Ball sponsors, gala committee, honorary committee, board of directors, staff, and volunteers who contributed to making the gala such a success.
