The popular Loop Around the Bridgehouse Tour lets you explore the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum from the gear room to the top of the five-story tower, learning the intertwined history of the Chicago River and its bridges along the way.

Once you leave the bridge tower, cross the DuSable Bridge on its lower level to get a closer look at this landmark bridge's features. On the north bank of the river, walk west along the river plazas in front of the Trump Tower and neighboring buildings and learn the secrets of guessing the ages of the current Chicago bridges. Cross the State Street Bridge to once again find yourself on the south bank of the river and take the steps down to the Chicago Riverwalk, through Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza and under the Wabash Avenue Bridge to return to the museum.

Tour starts at 11 a.m. in the museum lobby and lasts about 75 minutes. Cost is $12 per person, includes museum admission. Children 6-12 years old and adults 62 years or older receive a $1 discount. Friends of the Chicago River members receive a $3 discount. Reservations are recommended but not required. To reserve your spot, please call the museum at (312) 977-0227.

This tour is offered every Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., through October 31.
