Tags: Attend, Urban Canoe Adventures, Ticketed events, and Canoe Program

Saturday, September 10, 2022
6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Location: Skokie Lagoons

Join us in an exclusive after-hours moonlit paddle through the Skokie Lagoons. Keep your eyes and ears open as the nocturnal world comes awake! Night paddling is not normally permitted in the Forest Preserves, so this is a special opportunity to experience the lagoons from a rare perspective. You never know what you might see.

Friends’ trusty canoe guides will be there to help everyone safely load in and out of the canoes, offer paddling instruction and answer questions about the river along the way. No paddling experience necessary, all equipment is provided. The trip will start and end from the same location, rain or shine!

Young river lovers from 8-12 years old may enjoy the event with their family by sitting in the center of the canoe. All participants need to sign a paddling waiver, which will be sent in the registration confirmation email.

All paddlers receive a free one-year Friends’ membership! Friends’ membership includes:

  • Invitations to special events
  • Free entry to the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum
  • Discounts on Friends paddles and other events
  • Free subscription to our River Reporter newsletter
  • Monthly Volunteer E-Newsletter and Bi-weekly Friends E-Newsletters.
You can unsubscribe from any communications easily, just hit the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email!

Due to COVID-19, there are additional safety precautions in place. Boating is a great activity that allows for social distancing, but we want to take every precaution possible. Therefore:

  • You MUST register, no walk ups are allowed.
  • We are offering this opportunity by boat instead of by seat, to ensure participants already know their boating partner.
  • We ask participants to be fully vaccinated unless they have a medical exemption.
  • Masks and social distancing are encouraged while on the dock.

As with all activities during the time of COVID, we ask that you NOT attend this event if any of these situations applies to you:

  • You are experiencing now or have experienced flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days.
  • You attended any events or gone to a place in the past 7-10 days where anyone was diagnosed with coronavirus.
  • You have been in contact with anyone in the last 7-10 days who demonstrated flu like symptoms but were never checked at a medical facility.
  • You have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with coronavirus in the past 7-10 days.

Trip costs may be refunded up to a week in advance. Any cancellations within 7 days of the trip are non-refundable. If trips are cancelled due to weather and/or hazardous conditions, participants will be offered the option of rescheduling or will be fully refunded.
