Volunteer Wildlife Monitor Training May 30

Tags: Volunteers

Friends of the Chicago River has restored habitat for three river-dependent species: Osprey, bats, and turtles, and we need your help to monitor them. Our training sessions provide all of the necessary information and expectations for interested volunteers to monitor these animals and their habitats.

No  experience is needed. Groups and families are encouraged. Under 18 must monitor with an adult.

We ask volunteers to commit to at least one habitat location and monitor at least twice per month during the breeding season (May to August.) Habitats are located to the north (in Glencoe, Winnetka, Northfield, and Morton Grove) and south (in Lemont, Midlothian, Riverdale, Thornton, and Chicago Heights.)

Volunteer wildlife monitor training is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at North Park Village Nature Center, 5801 N. Pulaski Road.

To register, please email Mark Hauser at mhauser@chicagoriver.org. For info about the nature center, please email Elizabeth Holley at Elizabeth.Holley@ChicagoParkDistrict.com

A light dinner will be provided.
