Friends’ Bridgehouse Museum celebrates the Chicago River and its world-famous movable bridges and is the only bridgehouse open to the public. On Bridge Lift days, the massive  gears inside the museum come to life to lift the bridge out of the way of passing boats.

Museum hours are Thursday – Monday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., through October 31. The museum will open on select Wednesdays in spring and fall  for bridge lift viewings only. General admission is free for Friends of the Chicago River members, $5 or less for non-members. Bridge lift tickets are $10 and Friends members receive a $3 discount.

Saturday, May 13 is a bridge lift day. We will try to post live updates on when the Michigan Avenue bridge will life so you are inside the tower to watch the gears move and see the bridge rise.
