FREE – in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County

Bask in the beautiful colors of autumn leaves while we gently paddle our way through one of the Calumet’s most beautiful Forest Preserves. In addition to the fall colors, paddlers often see wildlife like great blue herons, egrets, turtles and even the occasional mink.  You never know what you might see.

No paddling experience necessary. Friends’ trusty canoe guides will help everyone safely load in and out of the canoes, answer questions about the river along the way and act as safety monitors on the water. All equipment, paddling instruction, and safety talk is provided. We recommend paddlers are at least 10 years old and all minors paddle with a guardian. Younger river lovers from 5-10 years old are invited to enjoy the event with their family by sitting in the center of the canoe (no need to register them). Trips start and end from the same location, rain or shine! Space is limited, registration required.
