Summer Float Party

Thanks to decades of hard work and advocacy the Chicago-Calumet River system is healthier and more accessible than it has been in over 150 years. It's rebirth as an extraordinary natural and recreation asset is highlighted when hundreds of Chicagoans take to the river to enjoy a summer day splashing in it's waters. Water quality has dramatically improved to a point where the river is fishable and swimmable in most places most days.

The Summer Float Party is unique opportunity to experience the magic and pageantry of the Chicago River system during the height of summer fun in Chicago, with just a splash of silly for good measure, celebrating the river’s renaissance and filling the river corridor with laughter and joy. Join Friends of the Chicago River and 300 floating friends on inner tubes, kiddie pools and floaty toys to float the North Branch of the Chicago River from River Park to Horner Park.
