Take a guided tour of the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum with our trained staff to learn the history of the Chicago-Calumet River System. Staff will walk you through all five stories of the museum plus our gear room, share stories not found in our exhibit, and answer questions.

Tours are offered June - October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tours start at 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. in the museum lobby, and last approximately 60 minutes. Up to ten people can join each tour.

The Bridgehouse Museum is a historic landmark building, and does not have an elevator. Most tours utilize a narrow stairway and climb five flights of stairs. Benches are available for rest on each floor. Any accessibility questions and options for alternative tours of just our first floor and gear room, please email jcoles@chicagoriver.org and we will be able to accommodate you.

Located in the southwest bridgehouse of the historic DuSable Bridge on Michigan Avenue, the Bridgehouse Museum tells the story of how the Chicago-Calumet River system changed as people's use of it changed. The five-story museum showcases a river teeming with wildlife due in large part to hard fought water-quality victories and significant restoration efforts.
