Gully Fixing Workshop at Whistler Woods

?Come out and learn why and how we repair gullies during this hands-on workshop. We are partnering with The Forest Preserves of Cook County to provide this workshop and onsite gully fixing workday. Anyone and everyone is welcome! This is a great opportunity for volunteers of Friends, the FPCC, and our other CV partners like Friends of the Forest Preserves and the Chicago Ornithological Society.

Neighborhood Paddle on the North Shore Channel with Alderwoman Simmons and Friends

5th Ward Ald. Robin Rue Simmons and Friends of the Chicago River invite members of the Evanston community for a special paddle on the North Shore Channel on Wednesday, August 30, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Friends and Ald. Rue Simmons will take guests on a guided paddle along this special stretch of the river. Paddling experience is not necessary.

Josina and Friends' Big Jump

Come watch elected officials from every level of government along with representatives from key agencies and advocates as they jump into the Chicago River at Ping Tom Park. This public education event will highlight the collective work done to improve the river’s water quality, and to show our commitment to making the Chicago River swimmable for all Chicagoans.

North Branch Wilderness Paddle

Our most adventurous canoe trip of the season provides paddlers with a chance to glimpse local wildlife, including herons, turtles, mink and deer. We'll paddle six river miles from Glenview to Morton Grove along the North Branch of the Chicago River, passing through quiet, forested landscapes as the narrow river meanders back and forth.

Blue Star Memorial Woods Volunteer Workday

Blue Star Woods is a 20 acre site of high quality woods that includes a popular picnic area. Activities will include thinning of occasional buckthorn and other invasive trees, stormwater management, and seed collecting.

LABAGH WOODS PLANT & INSECT BIOBLITZ

JOIN THE VOLUNTEERS OF LABAGH for a plant and insect BIOBLITZ of LaBAGH WOODS.

On Sunday, September 17th, we will be holding a plant and insect survey of LaBagh Woods and you are invited to join us. We will be using an iNaturalist Project to photograph and document all the plant and insect life we can. (We will be glad to include all other sightings too, for the project, but on Sunday, September 17th, our focus is plants and insects).

Join us for this ongoing restoration project at Somme Woods East. We will be removing invasive species, collecting seeds and learning about other restoration activities. Be a part of Centennial Volunteers and help out in our forest preserves.
