Wellness Wednesdays at Whistler Woods

Deepen your connection with nature at three different wellness activities every Wednesday through September 29 at Whistler Woods in south suburban Riverdale.

Open to all ages and experience levels, these special events include bird watching, yoga, and seed collecting. Whistler Woods is also one of our focus Centennial Volunteers river-edge preserves, and the special events coincide with our Inside, Out & About program which helps to increase understanding that activity in nature is good for our health.

Wellness Wednesday is a partnership of Friends, the Chicago Audubon Society, Friends of the Forest Preserves, the Forest Preserves of Cook County, and the University of Illinois Extension.

  • Bird Walk: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. This walk is open to all birders, beginners and experts alike. There are a limited number of binoculars, so come early or bring your own pair. No registration is required.

  • Seed Collecting Volunteer Workday: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Explore Whistler Woods and learn about the local ecology as we collect native seeds. Registration is required.
