Be a Spirit Team Leader at the Summer Float Party

Sign up today to be a Spirit Team Leader at Friends’ Chicago Summer Float Party taking place July 23 to provide support for Friends’ education and restoration programs including student fieldtrips to the river. Just round up a team of four friends or coworkers to fundraise for the river and Friends’ and then float down the river knowing you are making a difference for people and for wildlife. New this year, Spirit Teams members are invited to creatively dress and float on a team theme, with prizes to be awarded for most festive costume and float spirit.

Apply by June 15

Apply by June 15 to become a Spirit Team Captain and prepare your festive inner tubes, floating loungers, and inflatable swim toys team for an enthusiastic float on the North Branch of the Chicago River from River Park to Horner Park in Chicago. Then stick around to toast after your float with a celebration at Horner Park.

“When Friends of the Chicago River was founded in 1979, most Chicagoans would never consider the river as place for recreation,” says Becky Lyons, Friends’ director of environment, equity and engagement. “Now we are proud to float on the river together to celebrate the incredible improvements that Friends and so many partners, organizations and volunteers have brought about in the health and quality of the river system. Join us in connecting with your river at this one-of-a-kind event!” Registration for all floaters is open. Please sign up today! Float tickets are limited.
