Celebrate with Spirit at the Summer Float Party

It is not too late to join your Friends of the Chicago River for our annual Summer Float Party on July 23, 2023! Sign up today to be a Spirit Team Leader and you will have the opportunity to float alongside 101.9 The Mix hosts Chris and McCabe. All you have to do is round up a team of four friends or coworkers to fundraise for the river and then hit the water knowing you are making a difference for people and for wildlife. Don fun costumes and a clever team theme, and your Spirit Team may even win prizes for most festive floaters.

Friends and floaters will jump in at River Park and float a mile down the North Branch to Horner Park in Chicago. Then join us for our post-float party at Horner Park with drinks and food, and music by The Mix. Click here to listen to the Summer Float Party promo on The Mix.

Our Summer Float Party celebrates the incredible improvements to the health and quality of the river system. “When Friends was founded in 1979, most Chicagoans would never consider the river as place for recreation,” said Becky Lyons, Friends’ director of environment, equity and engagement. “Now, however, the river is healthy for recreation and teeming with wildlife. We are proud to float on the river and we hope you will join us.”
