Welcome to Our Summer Team: Bridgehouse Museum Associates and Interns

Friends of the Chicago River is excited to welcome an outstanding group of associates and interns who are supporting our mission this summer at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum as well as working on key Policy, Education and Outreach, and On-the Ground projects.
We’re proud to welcome our Bridgehouse Museum team, a dynamic group bringing a wide range of expertise in history, sustainability, and urban planning:
- Joe Gamble, Senior Museum Associate, returns for his second year. Joe brings 15 years of experience in historical museums with a focus on interpretation, curation, and exhibit design.
- Vivian Cossey, Museum Associate, holds an M.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Loyola University Chicago.
- Gina Malfatti, Museum Associate, earned an M.S. in Historic Preservation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
- Mitchell Trachtenberg, Museum Associate, is currently pursuing an M.S. in Urban Planning and Policy at the University of Illinois Chicago.
We're also thrilled to welcome interns from our university partners who will contribute fresh perspectives and valuable support to our ongoing programs:
- From the Freshwater Lab at the University of Illinois Chicago, Vick Lukaszuk, Communications Intern, is pursuing a B.A. in English and Psychology and will assist in public outreach and content development.
- From Loyola University Chicago, Thomas Botsford-Rhodes Litter Project Intern, is pursuing a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Environmental Economics and will focus on Friends’ Litter Free initiative and stewardship at Canal Origins Park.
- From Northeastern Illinois University, Faryal Faizan, Community and Environmental Research Intern, is a graduate student in Geography and Environmental Sciences, contributing to a research and community engagement project.
