A Festive Evening Celebrating 20 Years of the Bridgehouse Museum
Rain didn’t stop Friends from hosting a festive fall evening cruise on the Chicago River beneath the dark skies and twinkling lights of Chicago’s world-renowned skyline. It provided the perfect setting for the annual Autumn Cruise, celebrating the 20th anniversary of our McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.
Proceeds from the special cruise benefit important programming at the Bridgehouse Museum, including educational field trips for Chicago Public School students who learn about the river’s ecology and history, and how the once-abused Chicago-Calumet River system is now home to abundant wildlife.
On the cruise, passengers also learned about the Riverwalk and river trail development from Lindsey Fray, AICP, Planning Team Lead at Chicago Department of Transportation.
The Bridgehouse Museum is the cultural anchor of the Chicago Riverwalk and welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every season for exhibits on the history and future of the Chicago-Calumet River system.
The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 25. Special thanks to the Watershed Sponsors of the cruise: Wendella Tours & Cruises, CIBC, and The Wrigley Building.
