Celebrating the People Who Make Our Work Possible

Join us November 12 for an evening celebrating the members, volunteers, and partners who make Friends of the Chicago River’s work possible. It’s an opportunity to come together, recognize the many accomplishments we’ve achieved this year, and celebrate the people who are helping protect and restore the Chicago-Calumet River system.

Registration required

Throughout the evening, we’ll recognize outstanding members of our river community with our annual River Commitment Awards: River Champion, honoring extraordinary effort and leadership; Volunteer of the Year, recognizing exceptional volunteer service; Spirit of the River, celebrating someone whose efforts, character and enthusiasm have gone above and beyond; and River Resiliency, honoring the vital role our members play in sustaining Friends’ mission.

“Friends’ work has always been made possible by people who care deeply about the river and step up to make a difference in so many ways,” said Becky Lyons, director of community partnerships and engagement at Friends of the Chicago River. “Our members and volunteers bring energy, expertise, and passion to everything we do, and this special night is an opportunity to celebrate and thank them for being such an important part in restoring and protecting the river for all.”
