Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District recently presented a resolution to Friends of the Chicago River honoring the important contributions of Friends and our volunteers, sponsors, and partners for the 30th Annual Chicago River Day to improve and protect the Chicago-Calumet River system. Initiated by Commissioner Cam Davis, the resolution acknowledges the river as one of our most valuable and prominent natural resources.

Also this year, we are excited to add a media partner for Chicago River Day – 101.9 The Mix. They will host a “Volunteer with Violeta” team at LaBagh Woods with radio personality Violeta Podrumedic. Click here to listen to an audio file of The Morning Mix Show talk about the importance of Chicago River Day.

With more than 70 sites along the river system open for registration, excited volunteers are mobilizing for Friends’ large-scale spring litter cleanup and restoration on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
