The McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum opens May 14.

The Bridgehouse Museum on Chicago's Riverwalk at Michigan Ave.

The McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum opens on Chicago River Day, Saturday, May 14 for the 2021 season, which runs through October. Visit the museum on opening day and enter a raffle to win a pair tickets for a Wendella Architecture Cruise on the river. The opening of the museum will also feature a display of the Chicago River Schools Network poster contest which inspires people to reduce litter and protect wildlife.

The five-story landmark Michigan Avenue Bridgehouse, located on the Chicago Riverwalk, explores the complicated history of the river from glacial formation through modern revitalization and the work that brought the river back to life. The Bridgehouse Museum also celebrates Chicago’s world-famous movable bridges and allows visitors an up-close look at the massive gears and inner-workings of the bridge.

The Bridgehouse Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday from May 14 through October 30. General admission is free for Friends of the Chicago River members, and $6 or less for non-members.
