Celebrate the Sounds of the River

Join Friends of the Chicago River, Planet Chambo, and Solidarity Studios on Friday, August 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum for Beats on the River, a free, family-friendly evening exploring how sound and music can deepen our connection to the river and the natural world.

Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a plant listening session, create beats using sounds from the river, and hear the winning entries from the Sounds of the Chicago-Calumet River Remix Competition. The event will also feature live music, interactive river activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect with the community along the Chicago Riverwalk.

The Bridgehouse Museum will remain open throughout the event, offering another chance to explore the river’s environmental transformation. The first 25 guests age 21 and older will also receive a complimentary drink.

Register here; walk-ups are welcome. Learn more about the Sounds of the River project and remix competition.

The special event is partially funded by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Individual Artist Program and Crossroads Fund Youth Grant
