$30,000 Match Success!

We are thrilled to announce that our $30,000 match campaign has been met! Thanks to the generosity of Otter Society Members Craig and Kate Coit and Tom and Barbara Honn, along with everyone who gave to the campaign, we reached our goal in celebration of World Rivers Day and the 30th anniversary of Friends of the Chicago River’s Chicago-Calumet River Schools Network (CRSN).

For three decades, the CRSN has connected students and teachers with the Chicago-Calumet River system as a living classroom. When Friends launched the CRSN in 1996, it was the first-of-its-kind in the region, training teachers and engaging students with the river system. Since then, nearly 650,000 students and teachers have experienced the river through hands-on, place-based learning that builds environmental knowledge, inspires leadership, and fosters a lifelong commitment to stewardship.

The match may be complete, but the work continues. Your donation helps Friends advance river-based education, build climate resilience, support equitable access, and drive the policy, planning, and on-the-ground work that is transforming the Chicago-Calumet River system.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave to the match campaign and helped celebrate 30 years of river-based learning.

If you missed the match campaign you can still donate today to support Friends’ ongoing work to protect and restore the river system.

Supporting Friends of the Chicago River through The Otter Society is another way individuals and businesses make a generous annual commitment to the river’s restoration, revitalization, and advocacy.
