Celebrate Our Members and Volunteers
Join Friends of the Chicago River for an evening celebrating the members, volunteers, and partners who make our work possible. Together, we’ve accomplished so much this year to protect and restore the Chicago-Calumet River system, and this is our chance to celebrate the people who helped make it happen.

We’re excited to gather at the Forest Preserves of Cook County’s Mathew Bieszczat Volunteer Resource Center along the North Branch of the Chicago River on Chicago’s northwest side. During the evening, we’ll recognize three outstanding members of our river community with our annual awards: River Champion, honoring extraordinary effort and leadership in their work; Volunteer of the Year, recognizing exceptional volunteer service; and Spirit of the River, celebrating someone whose efforts, character and enthusiasm have gone above and beyond.

The evening will also feature a Question and Answer session with Friends’ staff, so bring your questions about everything from osprey nesting and paddling to river policy and restoration. Food and drinks are complimentary and there will be plenty of time to meet, mingle, and share stories with Friends’ staff, board members, fellow volunteers, and other members of the river community.
