Canoe Guides Inspire Love for the River
Paddling the river system is a joy, and Friends has been introducing people to its natural wonders for over 30 years. The canoe program provides a safe, first-hand river experience for beginner or seasoned paddlers that inspires many guests to become longtime river stewards after seeing turtles, birds, mink and other wildlife that live in and along the river system.
Volunteer canoe guides and trailer haulers play a critical role in creating equitable opportunities for our community to connect to the river, helping guests understand the river’s vital place in our history as well as its role as an important natural resource for our future. Friends provides training, mentorship and a safe, welcoming, respectful, and professional environment for all staff, volunteers, and participants.
